I love spending time outside looking up at the stars.  I have a small telescope that I use to look at planets, nebula, and stars in our galaxy.  It gives me a sense of just how small I really am in the universe.  It also makes me feel awestruck at how beautiful creation is all around me.

I believe one of the key first steps in improving your financial situation is understanding who is in charge.  When we are young that person is probably a parent and/or teacher during the day.  As one gets older and moves out on their own, it may be a boss at work.  For some, they elevate themselves to be the one in charge.  Unfortunately, none of these are actually correct when in fact our God is the one in charge of all things.  Yes, we are really just a steward of everything in our possession for a short period of time.

How do things change when you realize all that you own is actually God's?  Do you spend, save, and give differently?  One way to understand this better is via a cool video.  Check out the link below.

When we elevate God to his proper position in our lives, all our financial decisions change.  Our budget looks different.  Our spending is not so selfish.  We realize our financial choices have a much bigger significance and consequence.  The same holds true for our time and talents too.  The next time you are about to make a financial choice in your life consider these things.

I'll leave you with a neat picture of the latest space observatory which launched on Christmas day.  I was fortunate to have worked a short period of time on the James Webb Space telescope.  Our company was involved in the integration and testing of the hardware.

The good news is that your finances are not as difficult as rocket science.  Believe me, I should know.

Happy new year everyone!

Mike
